Student testimonials from …

Recent years

Thanks for being the realest teacher I have ever had.

Sometimes you make me wonder why you chose to teach GP considering how smart and knowledgeable about the world you are – you could’ve been anything and done anything. Thanks for making me enjoy GP and I definitely learnt a new thing from you every day!

– Mr H N Kope, S06 Stream, Champion College Debater

your pool of knowledge that seems to know something about everything..

never ceases to amaze me.

– Mr P C Chang, S03 Stream, College Photographer

the good thing about you is that you are always so unpredictable.

Even though you’ve not been one to express emotions openly, you still care for us in your own unique way. Thank you for always asking what you can do for me.

– Miss G Lim, S03 Stream, Writers' Guild

thank you for always having faith in me

I really think I’ve changed and matured a lot since J1 – thank you for always having faith in me and encouraging me! Thank you for always treating us with patience and kindness.

– Miss J Tan, S03 Stream, College Hockey Player

keep passing on your wealth of knowledge and brilliant insights

Though you seem a little scary at times when you put on a straight face, you are always there to help us with any queries regarding GP or even my random questions about random affairs. Keep passing on your wealth of knowledge and your brilliant insights to our juniors!

– Miss A Jin, S06 Stream, Interact Club

It's been both a blessing and a joy to have been taught by you

Although you do not portray yourself as an entirely warm and bubbly teacher, I know there is a side of you that still cares. I will really miss GP lessons with you and all the times you crack jokes in class or make sarcastic remarks! It’s been both a blessing and a joy to have been taught by you and to hear your insights about issues in the world and I also learnt more about Indian culture!

– Miss W Y Chin, S03 Stream, National Schools Badminton Champion

The analysis of global events and the personal input you always discuss during GP lessons is really eye-opening at times…
— Mr R Koh, S03 Stream, College Hockey Player

Thank you for sharing lots of knowledge and insights with us..

and focussing on teaching skills to us while keeping lessons entertaining and interesting.

– Mr F Khoo, S03 Stream, Club Automatica

You remind me of the late boxing legend Muhammad Ali, who promised his fans that he will 'float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.'

In many sense, you resemble him, and for good reasons. You often FLOAT around the class during discussions, using a casual, relaxed, somewhat unconventional style of teaching with a wealth information that has never failed to enlighten and impress us. Your criticisms can sometimes STING but we understand that it is for our own benefit. Hopefully, you can continue to be an inspiration for your students, just like how the late Muhammad Ali was to his fans.

– Mr J J Lim, S06 Stream, College Swimmer

Thanks for being such a cool and unique tutor

GP lessons are always interesting not only because of the sick banter but also since we get to learn new things each time.

– Mr I J Lassesen, S06 Stream, Rugby Vice-Captain

thank you for being such an interesting teacher and imparting so much cool knowledge to all of us!

Confucius once said, "I hear and I forget." I guess I sort of forgot where I was going with this but hopefully this will help bring back fond memories of my GP essays lol but anyway, thank you for being such an interesting teacher and imparting so much cool knowledge to all of us! Confucius then said, "I see and I remember, I do and I understand" so thank you for giving us some understanding (and many memories) to remember. #runonlines #butnotoffline

– Miss R Lim, S06 Stream, Gymnastics Vice-Captain

You did what every GP teacher should do -

Open us up to new ideas and new viewpoints we never thought existed. And mainly, I’m glad you’re willing to read through my essays which are choc-full of anti-Western, pro-Eurasian rhetoric.

– Mr R Ma, S03 Stream, Chorale Section Leader

your words seem so STELLAR

Whenever you speak, your words seem so … stellar because I get exposed to so many interesting perspectives.  I have grown to treasure personal opinions from you.

– Mr R Kumar, S03 Stream, College Hockey Player

A lot of improvement came from your lessons

simply because of how many new things I learnt in just one block. Apart from just GP, thanks for always having faith in me and believing that I can push myself to the goals I’m working towards.

– Miss S Bobba, S03 Stream, Student Councillor

Thanks for making potentially dry and boring GP lessons so much more interesting with your jokes and analysis of various topics…
— Mr J Tan, S03 Stream, Floorball Captain

I wish you all the best in finding your next favourite student

(knowing I'll always be the first)!

– Miss S Seet, S06 Stream, Street Dancer

Your personal feedback in our essays has been very valuable to us

We are very grateful for the effort you have put in for us!

– Mr J Ng, S03 Stream, Ultimate Frisbee Vice-Captain

Thank you for helping us become more critical..

by exposing us to fresh perspectives in class.

– Miss J X Wu, S03 Stream, Soccer Player

you have encouraged me to think critically and enhanced my evaluative skills in general

You’ve made GP lessons a lot more humorous in general with your dry humour. Thanks for allowing us moments to laugh in an otherwise tiring day!

– Miss A Koh, S06 Stream, College Judoka

I’ve learnt is to just be curious about anything and everything

One really important thing I’ve learnt is to just be curious about anything and everything that you come across and we’ll find that we will be able to learn many things this way.

– Mr B C Chieo, S06 Stream, ODAC

your way of imparting knowledge and clarity is something I truly admire

To be honest, I enjoyed most GP lessons and I really think your way of imparting (or infusing of some sort) knowledge and clarity is something I truly admire. Even though I still don’t get your sense of humour sometimes!

– Miss D Loh, S06 Stream, Gymnast

Thank you for being such an AWESOME GP teacher!!

Truly there is not one lesson/assembly session where I am not impressed and astounded, be it how knowledgeable or how socially adept (for a lack of a better word) you are.

– Mr H M Zhu, S06 Stream, Vice-Head Primer, Boys’ Brigade

Thank you for your undying support and nurturing guidance. Thank you for accepting all the extra essays I handed in and putting in so much effort in helping me out.
— Mr Y Chauhan, S06 Stream, Track & Field

I really appreciate your ability to answer our every question and clarify all our doubts

Thanks for making GP lessons rich and interesting for us each time.

– Mr J Tan, S06 Stream, Club Automatica

eaRlier years

Thanks for not giving up on even the weaker students like me

As there was no chance to thank you personally during the day of results release, and even though it is slightly late, I would still like to thank you for all your efforts and support during the past year preparing us for the A Levels! I am really grateful for all your guidance and the effort put in into teaching and inspiring us to explore beyond the tutorial rooms!

– Miss S Mok, S06 Stream, Red Cross

our lessons have been made very interesting

Your teaching style is quite different, but we’ve still learnt a lot, and our lessons have been made very interesting.

– Mr D Tang, S07 Stream, Floorball

Really appreciate your sense of humour and teaching style

It’s a very nice change to all the monotonous writing I’ve experienced and the groupwork is really fun.

– Mr H C Singh, S07 Stream, Hockey

I’ve truly learnt a lot from GP lessons this year and it’s probably because you always give us new perspectives that are so mind-boggling for me, but I feel like I’m more ready to face the world!
— Miss J Tjen, S07 Stream, Student Councillor

Thank you for being such an (intimidatingly) brilliant and inquisitive GP teacher

I hope I also can pick up the same skills as I do my MOE teaching internship next year. Once again, thank you for always believing in me. It is the reason why I feel more confident.

– Mr D Matin, A01 Stream, Symphonic Band

I really have to thank you for pushing my grade up from a 'D' to an 'A'!!

Even though I spammed you with ten-year series papers, you marked all of them, gave me answer keys so I understood my mistakes better, and even took the time to tell me that my AQ was improving. That really encouraged me a lot since I was demoralised by my prelim grades.

– Miss W Soh, A01 Stream, Interact Club

Thank you so much for all your guidance and for setting aside so much time just to help me

Whenever I listen to you describe something, I get really fascinated by how much you know and how you are able to deliver the information in such an interesting way. Your humour also added colour to the J2 life that revolved around studying.

– Mr W K Ng, S06 Stream, Entrepreneurs' Network

We’ve honestly learnt a lot from you..

this year and have improved quite a bit under your guidance. For making us do presentations and learning from them, thank you for your hard work in ensuring that we are on the right track!

– Miss M Wong, S07 Stream, Touch Rugby

for putting up with us..

and marking all my essays so quickly!

– Miss K Yoong, S07 Stream, Red Cross

Your opinions and worldviews have definitely opened my mind to many alternative perspectives..

that are quite often politically incorrect yet undeniably astute. I hope to read your opinions in the papers more often (assuming that the editors approve).

– Mr A Yap, S06 Stream, Chorale

Thank you for showing me the value of being concerned about issues, ideas and concepts..

not for the sake of mere examinations but because it pays to understand the world we live in, with all its brilliance, chaos and eccentricity.

– Miss M Ow, S03 Stream, History & Strat Affairs Society

Thank you so much for being a great teacher that stimulates us to think deeply and become more critical!

I’ve enjoyed your lessons greatly and learnt so much from you!

– Miss C Y Chan, S03 Stream, Interact Club
