Faisal Ali is the Principal Coach, an ex-teacher with the former Raffles Junior College and Raffles Institution for more than twelve years. He also served as Assistant Head of Department.
Ali has tutored many hundred students of all backgrounds in General Paper, with the clear majority scoring As and Bs. He taught pupils of various academic streams in other schools prior to joining RJC.
Ali has a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Political Science from NUS, rounding off the latter subject with Honours. He also has a PGDE teaching qualification from NIE/NTU. Ali went on to get a Master’s degree in educational leadership in a joint programme between NIE and Teachers College, Columbia University of New York.
Before joining the teaching force, Ali was a broadcast journalist and presenter with MediaCorp News. Both as a journalist and college teacher later, Ali has organised, hosted or moderated discussions on matters of national interest such as meritocracy, immigration, ethnicity and religion in Singapore. He enjoys dealing with student participants as well as invited dignitaries, focused on ensuring a meaningful time for all present.
Ali volunteers at some community organisations when possible, particularly in the area of hosting or speaking at events, as well as editing, proofreading, vetting and bilingual translations of their materials up for printing or publishing.
